Seam Pang Bird & Wildlife Watching

Seam Pang Bird & Wildlife Watching

Bird watching in Seam Pang can be undertaken in Virak Chey National Park, which is home to hundreds of bird species, many of which are endangered. December through March is the best time to visit this highland bird sanctuary when many of the lowland ponds inside the area and Virak Chey National Park have dried up and most of the birds fly along the upper Se Kong River.

Dozens of endangered bird species including vultures, storks, ibises, cormorants, pelicans and adjutants etc., among others, appear there frequently which makes for amazing trekking tours along the Se Kong River. During the treks there are not just many kinds of birds but various wildlife mammals to also fascinate visitors.

Seam Pang with its verdant and lush tropical forests is one of the best nature conservation regions in the province. However, this remote wildlife area is only accessible by boat from Stung Treng town to Seam Pang district town about 80 km. away. Then the journey is continued by hiring a small rowboat or by bicycling through this tranquil and unspoiled wildlife paradise. The ten park rangers are the best guides for visitors. There is one local guest house named ‘Theany Guesthouse’ established a few years ago for your accommodation and meals.
